The City of Bainbridge adopted the Historic Preservation Ordinance and established the Local Historic District in 2005.  Properties and sites found within the boundaries of the Local Historic District represent some of the most important resources that define the character of Bainbridge.  Those who own and occupy properties within this district continue to add to the history found here and should see themselves as stewards of these resources. The historic materials and buildings within the district will outlive many more generations if cared for properly and can continue to be adapted to new technology as long as nothing is permanently changed or discarded.

The local Historic Preservation Commission is charged with reviewing any major/minor work projects involving a material change in appearance that affects either the exterior architectural features or exterior environmental features of a historic property within the district.
